Dance is a disciplinary art form that requires an ambitious and driven attitude. You need to be willing to give more of yourself than you are maybe used to, with an openess to learn and develop. We require our students to have a curioisty and readiness to be challenged, both physically and mentally.
Everyday life at Stepz Dance Education
A day’s study consits of 3 different classes of 1.5 hours, between 9:30 – 14:45, Monday – Friday. It is mandatory that the students meet 30 minutes before their first lesson to warm up and prepare their focus for the day ahead.
The schedule is carefully planned for optimal training, so the students can keep a balanced study, and to help prevent injury. We understand the demanding physical workload of a full time dance education, and therefore a physiotherapist is also connected with Stepz.
Every week, there are classes in:
- Technique – Classical Ballet and Horton Technique
- Contemporary, Modern, Jazz
- Hip Hop, Wacking, House, Street
- Body Conditioning
- Injury prevention and nutrition
During the year, there will be personal evaluations between the student, teachers and principal of Stepz Dance Education. This gives us a platform to discuss the student’s progression during the course, and future goals and ambitions.
An important part of Stepz Dance Education is the yearly graduation show. It is an 8 week rehearsal process that gives the student insight into the professional dance world.
The students are a vital part of the process and help create the show. The set up of the show includes professional lighting and sound, with costumes designed by Helen Dohlmann.
The dance education’s graduation show has earlier been performed at Bellevue Teater, Københavns Musikteater og Studios filmstudier etc.
Furthermore, there are a number of possibilities to be chosen to take part in professional performances throughout the year for various events.
